This tour will allow us to visit the best tourist attraction cities of the country. From Casablanca to Marrakech, we will travel from the snow-capped Atlas Mountains to the endless sands of the Sahara, and from the medieval old town of Fes to the spice markets in Marrakech. The rich history and natural beauty of Morocco await.
We’ll see the vibrant collision between old and new expressed in architecture and artwork. We will learn about fallen cities and cross paths with nomadic tribes. We will jump in and discover many mysteries and legends concealed within this romantic, ever-changing country.
ITINERARY
Welcome to Morocco. Today we will discover the Art Deco influences of this metropolis, then head out on personal explorations through Casablanca’s heart and admire some of its architectural gems, including the beautiful Hassan II Mosque and the imposing Cathédrale du Sacré Coeur.
Today we’ll stroll through Rabat’s serene kasbah before journeying to Meknes, the former capital of Morocco and the site of Sultan Moulay Ismail’s palace.
We’ll travel back to the days of the Roman Empire on a guided tour of the ruins of Volubilis. In medieval Fes, we will wander in narrow alleyways at the medina as the call to prayer floats over Fes el-Bali at dusk.
Today we’ll head to Morocco’s cedar forests in the Middle Atlas Mountains and trek to the peaceful, rural village of Midelt. We’ll make a stop by a handicraft workshop run by Franciscan nuns – a great place to pick up a beautifully crafted souvenir.
After a camel ride into the Sahara desert, we will attempt to climb the towering dunes. Later, we will stay in a desert camp and sleep under the desert stars.
We will wake up early to watch the golden sunrise over the desert before heading to the impressive Todra Gorged. Feel like burning some energy? Why not go for a hike or try rock-climbing.
Today we’ll visit Morocco’s film capital, Ouarzazate, on the way to the ancient fortified city of Ait Benhaddou. We will explore the streets of this clay kasbah at a relaxed pace, then finish the day off with a meal of delicious couscous.
We will say goodbye to the Sahara and make our way to the hills. Perched on a rocky outcrop, Tamatert offers stunning views across Morocco. This is the perfect base for exploring the High Atlas Mountains and a chance to closely experience the traditional Berber culture.
With its Norfolk Island pines and colorful fishing boats, Essaouira is a gem. We will get acquainted with the town’s fascinating history on a guided walking tour before we get some free time to wander along the beach, visit art galleries or feast on freshly caught seafood.
Today we will explore the tantalizing spices market in Marrakech and dine al fresco at a food stall in Djemaa el-Fna, or escape the buzz of the city in the shaded rooms of the Palais de la Bahia, a superb example of ornate Muslim architecture.
Finally, at the end of a wonderful trip, we will depart for Marrakech and home.
