3 Day Merzouga Dunes Expedition and Sahara Desert Trip

Our 3-day, 2-night adventure from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert will take us south to some of the most fascinating and off-the-beaten-path locations in Morocco, including the breathtaking Tizi n'Ticka Pass, the highest road pass in the nation. valleys and palm groves that are unusually calm and tranquil. The Deep South's beginning is marked by the serene city of Ouarzazate. The Dades and Todra gorges (known asTodgha by the locals), the Erg Chebbi dunes, and the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah are all located in Merzouga.
The getaway path runs north through gorges and valleys filled with fragrant vegetation, where rivers meander through picturesque oasis. We will be travelling on camel, taking in Saharan sunset and sunrise, and listening to local music played by our native people.

* Day 1 : Marrakech - Tizi n Tichka (2260m) - Dades Valley
We meet you at your Marrakech lodging. You will travel across the breathtaking Tizi n Tichka pass (2260m) in the Atlas Mountains passing numerous Berber communities. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site at Ait Ben Hadou, which served as the setting for a number of important motion pictures, and you have the option to visit the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. After the optional visit to the film Studio we continue via the Skoura Oasis Palm Grove, the gorgeous Rose Valley, and the stunningDades Valley before arriving at our accommodation in the Dades Gorges.

* Day 2 : Dades Valley - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga
After an excellent breakfast at the hotel, we will travel to the town of Tinghir where we will have the opportunity to explore the Todgha Oasis and the renowned Todgha Gorge, a vast canyon that was created over many years by the Todgha and Dades River and rises 300 metres (higher than the Empire State Building in New York). The narrow canyon valley is home to small Berber villages, vegetable gardens, and pomegranate orchards in addition to its beautiful palmeries. To explore the palmery, a lush oasis full of sizable date palms that are always offering shade, you are welcome to go on an optional walk here. The palm trees will be hung with clusters of dates at various stages of maturation depending on what time of year you visit. Then, as we continue our journey through numerous Berber towns and villages, we eventually reach Erfoud, which is known for its fossils. A stop here is optional, but it gives you the chance to view how the fossils are polished and cleaned as well as the final results. After arriving at Merzouga in the late afternoon, we mount our camels and proceed into the Erg Chebbi sand dunes to our camp, which consists of Berber nomad tents. In the middle of the Sahara, drums will welcome us, and we'll be served a typical Moroccan meal.

Early risers can witness the breathtaking first light between the dunes shortly before the sun rises. We return to the Merzouga Auberge on our camels. After a traditional breakfast at the Auberge you have the opportunity to take a shower.
We travel back to Marrakech across the rocky desert, the Akassian desert plateau, the Draa valley, and the Atlas Mountains. The ancient site of Ait Ouazik past Tazzerine might be of interest to you where you can view amazing petroglyphs that date back to over 5000 BC and clearly depict images of elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and antelope. Drop off at your hotel in Marrakech!
